The number of children who are overweight in the United States has doubled in the last two to three decades. The National Institute of Health recently stated that one in five children is obese.
Indiana is currently the 9th most obese state in the nation.
Children who are overweight are at a higher risk for health problems
such as heart disease, high cholesterol, type-2 diabetes and high
blood pressure. Beyond the physical health concerns are emotion
issues: overweight children are often teased, which can lead to
low self esteem, decreased motivation, even depression.
For their health, we need to get our kids off the couch, have
them put down the video game controller and get active.
This Fitness DVD will help you do that!
It features three of Evansville's top fitness trainers, showing
eight EVSC school kids fun, strength-training exercises and stretches.
It's a great workout for kids ... and adults (and we filmed it
on a school holiday, so the kids didn't miss any class time).
